Net toen het Zweedse Avatar echt op doorbreken stond, besloot de wereld om alles op slot te gooien. De band was niet in staat om de vruchten volledig te plukken van de aanloop die ze hadden genomen daarvoor. Maar de band is veerkrachtig en lijkt verder te gaan op de stijgende weg die in het vooruitschiet ligt. Zo mochten ze in Zuid-Amerika openen voor de shows van Iron Maiden. Deze week is de single Valley Of Disease uitgebracht.
Zanger en voorman Johannes Eckerström zegt hierover: “There is a sickness, a stranger, and a harmful way. A twisted landscape untouched by the sun. I leave the rest up to either you or me, but never both at the same time. You can only enter this place alone, and my path isn’t yours. Your secret is safe with me, but so is mine.”
De band staat op zondag 12 maart in 013 in Tilburg.
Avantasia
Het nieuwe album van Tobias Sammet’s Avantasia ligt klaar voor de release. Van het nieuwe album A Paranormal Evening With The Moonflower Society is nu de sinlge The Inmost Light featuring Michel Kiske uitgebracht. Het nieuwe album is het negende en volgt Moonglow op dat de eerste plaats van de album charts in Duitsland wist te bereiken.
Tobias Sammet : “Michi Kiske is not only a good friend of more than 20 years, he has been with AVANTASIA right from the beginning. His singing inspires me when I compose songs, and while finalizing the writing for a duet with him it always ends up in a very powerful missile like
“The Inmost Light”. The sound is in my DNA, it always was an important component of my songwriting and maybe that is the reason our voices form a strong unit together. It is always a challenge to work and sing with this kind of expert. You have to put a lot of effort into it in order to not secede. Michi‘s singing and the sound of early HELLOWEEN influenced my career. I wrote “The Inmost Light” in the wake of just throwing everything overboard which would not be essential. I wanted to deliver a short and tight rocket”.
Borealis
7 oktober brengt Borealis het langverwachte nieuwe album Illusions uit via AFM Records. Afgelopen nacht is de video bij de nieuwe single Ashes Turn To Rain in première gegaan. Een review van het album komt tezijnertijd op onze site.
Lòdz
De Franse band Lòdz speelt postmetalmuziek. De heren zijn klaar om het nieuwe album uit te brengen. Maar we zullen nog een paar maandjes geduld moeten hebben. Wel kun je luisteren naar You’ll Become A Memory. Fans van Katatonia, Paradise Lost en Cult Of Luna wordt sowieso aangeraden om Lòdz mee te nemen in de playlists.
Troy Redfern
Tot slot nog even een wat sleasy bluesrockcompositie van Troy Redfern die je met de single Sweet Carolina warm maakt voor het album The Wings Of Salvation. Op het album wordt hij bijgestaan door bassist Dave Marks en drummer Paul Stewart.
