Het Italiaanse Fleshgod Apocalypse speelt orkestrale deathmetal met veel aandacht voor theater en ritmes. Ze keren dit jaar keihard terug met het vijfde album Veleno dat op 24 mei via Nuclear Blast Records zal worden uitgebracht. Om alvast in de ‘mood’ te komen, kun je je vergapen aan de video bij de nieuwe single Sugar, dat visueel heel aantrekkelijk is en past binnen de visuele ervaring die je ervaart wanneer je Fleshgod Apocalypse live mag en kan aanschouwen.
Francesco Paoli over de samenwerking met Giovanni Bucci: “I met Giovanni Bucci a couple of years ago, while collaborating on his own band ODDKO. We soon became good friends, so we started talking about having him as director for FLESHGOD’s new videos. He is a true visionary, with amazing directing and production skills. He’s been making music videos for bands like KORN, and he also has a shining career in the movie industry. We all agreed that he would’ve been the key to a huge step forward for us, visually and artistically, especially on a video like this, which was also extremely complex to produce and shoot. The result is on your screen now, and it’s better than any description. Just hit the play button and enjoy.”
Veleno is het eerste album in drie jaar voor de band en is het vervolg op King uit 2016. Het ‘harde’ gedeelte van Veleno is opgenomen in de Bloom Recording Studio en de Kick Studio in Rome. Voor het orkestrale gedeelte zijn ze afgereisd naar Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Jacob Hansen mocht het daarna afmaken.
Het artwork voor het album is van de hand van Travis Smith die ook voor Avenged Sevenfold, Opeth en Katatonia het artwork eerder heeft verzorgd.

Cellar Darling
Cellar Darling, dat is voortgekomen uit ex-leden van Eluveitie, brengen op 22 maart hun nieuwe album The Spell uit. Het album verhaalt over een meisje die verliefd wordt op de dood. Om de schare vaste fans te betrekken in hun werk heeft de band gevraagd aan de fans om te stemmen op de compositie die ze graag zouden willen zien als nieuwe single. De winnende compositie is het 7 minuten durende Drown. Hiervan kun je nu de video zien.
“For this single, we wanted to do something different”, volgens de band. “And we felt that our striking one-word tracklist is perfect for a fan vote. To let people decide which song they want to hear next based on only the title and length of the song, and to take us out of the decision process for once. To our surprise — and joy — the song that is probably the least “commercial” of all of them was chosen and we think that is kind of cool… we are proud of every chapter of this concept album, so let’s go ahead and release a non-single single, for once. We hope you enjoy it!”
Children Of Bodom
Van het nieuwe album Hexed heeft COB een lyricvideo van Hecate’s Nightmare online gezet.
“So finally the day has arrived,” states COB frontman, guitarist, and mastermind Alexi Laiho. “The 10th COB record has finally been released!!!
