We zijn alweer een week thuis van Graspop en het is goed om terug te kijken, maar vooral te zien dat veel bands die speelden nu ook met nieuw werk komen.
Rise Of The Northstar en Landmvrks zetten allebei een goede set neer. Ze hebben voor de nieuwe single Back 2 Basics de Franse handen in elkaar geslagen en het klinkt allemaal als een klok.
Vithia (ROTNS) zegt erover: “LDMVS & ROTNS have been sharing the stage for 10 years. Throughout our respective careers, we’ve been fighting to keep a ”new generation” of extreme music alive in France. There’s nothing harder than striving on your own, keeping your inner flame burning against all odds in order to fulfill yourself. We wanted to crystallize that in a radical and direct track. A return to the roots, to remind those who talk down on us that we haven’t let go of our dreams, and that we intend to raise high the banner of French metal.”
Gitarist Eva-B vult aan: Back 2 Basics marks the beginning of our collaboration with Flo from Landmvrks. I wrote this track with the desire to break away from our usual habits, by offering a more melodic chorus designed to create a strong contrast with the rest of the song. We explored several vocal ideas, and that’s when the thought of inviting Flo came up, we knew he could truly elevate the song. To our great pleasure, he immediately accepted the invitation. After recording vocal parts in his studio in Marseille, he sent us a mix that instantly convinced everyone. The sound, the energy, the precision… everything was there. This track was a turning point: from that moment on, it was clear we wanted him to handle the mixing and mastering of our next album.”

Het optreden van Heaven Shall Burn was bijzonder omdat zanger Marcus Bischoff van HSB ontbrak. Britta van Hireas vulde zijn rol. En ze paste de schoenen als waren ze gegoten voor haar. De nieuwe single War Is The Feather Of All is nu beschikbaar. De single is afkomstig van het album Heimat dat door Century Media Records wordt uitgebracht.
Lorna Shore mocht zich op Graspop laten zien op het grote podium. De aanhang van de band groeit en de band is uitgegroeid tot een deathcoregrootheid. De nieuwe single heet Unbreakable.
“Writing this one was definitely one of the trickiest songs ever, for me. We wanted to write a song that would sound and feel absolutely huge. I wanted something that made people feel good when listening or singing it; essentially a song that you can hear on your worst day, and somehow feel like that day was a breeze. This was one of the first songs I got to work on, and it ended up being the last one I finished. We are so used to putting a lot of notes together to make our songs sound right. The issue was that this song was one where everyone had to pull-back a bit and look at everything in the grander scheme; we didn’t want to throw a million notes on the board, we wanted only the ones that felt… right. This song quickly became anthemic for us, and one of our favorites by the time the process was over. Unbreakable is a very triumphant, all-inclusive song written to bring people together for a beautiful moment where they can realize that no matter what this world throws at us- it will never break us down. De nieuwe single is te vinden op het album ‘I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me’ dat op 12 september uit zal komen.
Hetzelfde geldt voor Orbit Culture. Deze Zweedse band stond een paar jaar geleden nog vroeg op de middag geprogrammeerd. Nu een stuk later en de tent was afgeladen. Daarbij was de stoomwals deze keer goed op stoom. De single Death Above Life kwam twee weken geleden uit. De single werd live ten gehore gebracht is komt van het gelijknamige album dat 3 oktober wordt uitgebracht.
Signs Of The Swarm speelde vroeg op Graspop, maar wist sterk te overtuigen. De nieuwe single Scars Upon Scars komt van het album To Rid Myself of Truth. Voor dit album moet je nog twee maanden wachten alvorens Century Media Records het op 22 augustus vrijgeeft.
